Screenshots of the Day: Reactions to Trump's Attack on Iran, and Bringing America Into Another War...

Carrying out the misguided orders of Donald Trump, seven B-2 stealth bombers were used in an operation to destroy three underground nuclear facilities in Iran...on June 21, 2025.
U.S. Air Force

So yesterday afternoon, the world found out that Donald Trump ordered airstrikes—conducted by seven B-2 stealth bombers and a multitude of fighter jets including the F-22 Raptor—against three underground nuclear facilities in Iran. These attacks, which were unprovoked considering that Iran was originally not in conflict with the U.S. but only Israel, came a week after Trump's disastrous military parade to honor his birthday, and over two weeks after Elon Musk effectively called the convicted felon a pedophile by tweeting that Trump was on Jeff Epstein's client list (see below).

Here are screenshots of tweets attacking Trump for Saturday's military action (dubbed Operation Midnight Hammer)...by both MAGA folks and anti-Trumpers alike. We'll see what happens now that Trump got America embroiled in another foreign conflict (despite the fact that MAGA folks voted for Trump partly because he was supposedly never going to get the U.S. caught up in another endless war)...with reports that Iran might close the economically-vital Strait of Hormuz an indicator that things will only get worse before they get better.

So much for that Nobel Peace Prize (which was endorsed by Osama bin Laden's final country of residence: Pakistan), Trump.

A tweet by Elon Musk asserting that Donald Trump is a pedophile.

Donald Trump isn't a real U.S. president.

Trump is a convicted felon AND an aspiring war criminal.

A tweet by House Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez calling for Trump's THIRD impeachment after he launched an unprovoked attack on Iran.

A tweet pointing out that Kamala Harris was basically right about everything she said about Trump during her 2024 presidential campaign.

Major MAGA influencer Candace Owens is NOT happy with Trump launching an unprovoked attack on Iran.

A fake tweet poking fun at Trump's post about his unprovoked attack on Iran...depicting what Japan's Emperor Hirohito would've said if Twitter/X existed during the Pearl Harbor airstrikes on December 7, 1941.

Trump supporters are hypocrites.

A meme poking fun at the hypocrisy of Trump supporters.

A tweet by a Trump supporter poking fun at the convicted felon's close ties to Israel's Prime Minister and fellow war criminal, Benjamin Netanyahu.

Another tweet poking fun at Trump's close ties to Israel's Prime Minister and fellow war criminal, Benjamin Netanyahu.

Some MAGA folks apparently want Trump removed from office as much as the rest of America does.

Photos of the Day: A Selfie with a Spy Balloon...

A selfie that a U.S. Air Force pilot took as his U-2 Dragon Lady flew above the Chinese spy balloon while it lurked above the continental United States...on February 3, 2023.
U.S. Department of Defense

Just thought I'd share these images after the Pentagon confirmed earlier today that the original picture, posted above, of a U.S. Air Force pilot taking a selfie with the now-defunct Chinese spy balloon is authentic.

This selfie was taken on February 3, one day before the balloon was shot down by an F-22 Raptor off the coast of South Carolina, as the U-2 Dragon Lady was circling the Chinese surveillance apparatus while it floated 40,000 feet above the U.S. mainland.

As of today, the operation to retrieve what remains of the balloon from the Atlantic Ocean is complete...and the analysis of the wreckage by such law enforcement agencies as the FBI is ongoing.

We'll see if China sends more of their balloons overseas to serve as target practice for America's fifth-generation fighters. Carry on.

The Chinese Spy Balloon: Biden Scores Again While A New Example of Trump's Ineptitude Is Revealed...

F-22 Safely Shoots Down Chinese Spy Balloon Off South Carolina Coast (Press Release)

A U.S. Air Force fighter safely shot down a Chinese high-altitude surveillance balloon today, Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III said in a written statement.

President Joe Biden ordered the action on Wednesday, but it was delayed until the balloon was over water off the coast of South Carolina to ensure that no Americans on the ground were harmed.

"The balloon, which was being used by the PRC in an attempt to surveil strategic sites in the continental United States, was brought down above U.S. territorial waters," Austin said.

The action was taken in coordination and support of the Canadian government. "We thank Canada for its contribution to tracking and analysis of the balloon through [North American Aerospace Defense Command] as it transited North America," Austin said. "Today's deliberate and lawful action demonstrates that President Biden and his national security team will always put the safety and security of the American people first while responding effectively to the PRC's unacceptable violation of our sovereignty," Austin said, referring to the People's Republic of China.

U.S. officials first detected the balloon and its payload on January 28 when it entered U.S. airspace near the Aleutian Islands. The balloon traversed Alaska, Canada and re-entered U.S. airspace over Idaho.

"President Biden asked the military to present options and on Wednesday President Biden gave his authorization to take down the Chinese surveillance balloon as soon as the mission could be accomplished without undue risk to U.S. civilians under the balloon's path," said a senior defense official speaking on background. "Military commanders determined that there was undue risk of debris causing harm to civilians while the balloon was overland."

An F-22 Raptor fighter from the 1st Fighter Wing at Langley Air Force Base, Virginia, fired one AIM-9X Sidewinder missile at the balloon.

The balloon fell approximately six miles off the coast in about 47 feet of water. No one was hurt.

Long before the shoot-down, U.S. officials took steps to protect against the balloon's collection of sensitive information, mitigating its intelligence value to the Chinese. The senior defense official said the recovery of the balloon will enable U.S. analysts to examine sensitive Chinese equipment.

"I would also note that while we took all necessary steps to protect against the PRC surveillance balloon's collection of sensitive information, the surveillance balloon's overflight of U.S. territory was of intelligence value to us," the official said. "I can't go into more detail, but we were able to study and scrutinize the balloon and its equipment, which has been valuable."

The balloon did not pose a military or physical threat. Still, its intrusion into American airspace over several days was an unacceptable violation of U.S. sovereignty.

The official said Chinese balloons briefly transited the continental United States at least three times during the prior administration.

While Chinese officials admitted that the balloon was theirs, they said it was a runaway weather balloon. "The PRC has claimed publicly that the high-altitude balloon operating above the United States is a weather balloon that was blown off course. This is false," the official said. "This was a PRC surveillance balloon. This surveillance balloon purposely traversed the United States and Canada, and we are confident it was seeking to monitor sensitive military sites."

The mission now transitions to one of recovery. There are a number of U.S. Navy and Coast Guard vessels establishing a security perimeter around the area where the balloon came to Earth.

They are searching for debris, said a senior military official also speaking on background. There is no estimate for how long the recovery mission will take, the military official said, but the fact that it came down in such a shallow area should make recovery "fairly easy".

The military official gave some detail of the engagement:

- The F-22 fired the Sidewinder at the balloon from an altitude of 58,000 feet. The balloon at the time was between 60,000 and 65,000 feet.

- F-15 Eagles flying from Barnes Air National Guard Base, Massachusetts, supported the F-22, as did tankers from multiple states including Oregon, Montana, South Carolina and North Carolina. Canadian forces also helped track the overflight of the balloon.

- The Navy has deployed the destroyer USS Oscar Austin, the cruiser USS Philippine Sea and the USS Carter Hall, an amphibious landing ship in support of the effort.

My Webpage Is Up for Photos That I Took at the 2022 Aerospace Valley Air Show!

Posing with a U.S. Navy F-35C Lightning II during the Aerospace Valley Air Show at Edwards Air Force Base, CA...on October 15, 2022.

I'm over three months late, but just thought I'd end January by letting y'all know that I finally created a webpage containing 60 pictures that I took at last October's Aerospace Valley Air Show in Edwards Air Force Base (AFB), CA! Click on the link below to view the images...which I captured using my Google Pixel 4A phone and Nikon D3300 DSLR camera.

It was so cool to see such aircraft as the F-35 Lightning II (all three U.S. variants from the Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps, that is), F-22 Raptor, SR-71 Blackbird, B-1B Lancer, NASA's now-retired SOFIA flying observatory, and even the full-sized Darkstar movie prop that was used in last year's Oscar nominee for Best Picture (it's so cool typing that), Top Gun: Maverick, in person.

Not sure if I'll drive down to Edwards AFB again this year (especially considering that Google Maps made me take a crappy route on the way home last time, heh), but if I do, I'll be sure to get more pics of F-22s, F-35s and B-1Bs conducting awesome aerial demos above the Mojave Desert! I missed out last year since I was still looking for a parking spot at the Southern California airbase when these aircraft were strutting their stuff in the sky.

It took me about two hours to park my car once I entered Edwards AFB before I got to enjoy the Aerospace Valley Air Show...but oh well. This event was worth it!

Snapshots from the 2022 Aerospace Valley Air Show!

Posing with an F-35C Lightning II at the Aerospace Valley Air Show in Edwards Air Force Base, CA...on October 15, 2022.

Earlier today, I drove to Edwards Air Force Base in Southern California to attend the Aerospace Valley Air Show...an event that hasn't taken place at the Mojave Desert-based military installation since 2009!

I stated in this previous Blog entry that I'd share more photos from last month's Miramar Air Show, but I didn't want to wait till I finally made that post to talk about today's exhibition.

While it was obviously cool to see the F-22 Raptor perform in San Diego last month, it was just as awesome that I got to see it on the ground today...along with all three variants of the F-35 Lightning II: The Air Force's F-35A, the Marine Corps' F-35B and the Navy's F-35C. As shown below, I only took images of the F-35A and 'C aircraft—since I already have plenty of photos of the F-35B from the three Miramar Air Shows I went to since 2016!

I was also able to see up close NASA's now-retired SOFIA airborne observatory, as well as the full-size Darkstar model used in this year's highest-grossing film, Top Gun: Maverick. So cool!

I'll eventually create a webpage dedicated to the AV Air Show, just like I did with this section that's devoted to last month's Miramar Air Show. Hope you guys are having a great weekend!

As previously mentioned in this Blog entry last weekend, here are more images that I took of the F-22 Raptor and P-51 Mustang during their U.S. Air Force Heritage Flight demonstration at the Miramar Air Show on September 24.

These seven images were taken with my Nikon D3300 DSLR camera. Having posted enough pics of the Raptor since this initial entry last month, I think it's time to start editing photos from other exhibitions at the San Diego-based air show...including a U.S. Marine Corps combat demo featuring F/A-18 Hornets, F-35 Lightning IIs, AH-1 Cobra attack helicopters and V-22 Ospreys, and the Blue Angels themselves!

Stay tuned, and Happy Hump Day.

Just thought I'd share these additional pics that I took of the F-22 Raptor during its aerial demo at the Miramar Air Show in San Diego, California, one week ago today.

As mentioned in the Blog entry linked above, I took around 600 photos during the Raptor's demo thanks to using 'burst mode' on my Nikon D3300 DSLR camera. This entry is devoted to more snapshots of the stealth jet as it performed on its own during the demonstration; a future post will feature more images of the F-22 performing a U.S. Air Force Heritage Flight with a World War II-era P-51 Mustang at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar.

Happy First Day of October!
