Fireworks erupt above Bird Nest Stadium in Beijing, China, during the Olympic opening ceremony on August 8, 2008.

THE 2008 OLYMPIC SUMMER GAMES... Ya gotta admit, the Chinese sure know how to put on a good opening ceremony. But what I really care about is how well the U.S. basketball team performs in Beijing for the next two weeks. Here’s hoping Kobe Bryant and Co. take back what was taken from us Yanks back in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens: A gold medal for playing hoops. Good luck, KB24 (or KB10 for the time being) and the Redeem Team. And the rest of Team USA.
